2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced
December 17th 2009 03:22
Back in late September 2009, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their nominee ballot of 2010 inductees. This list originally named a diverse group of artists including ABBA, The Chantels, Darlene Love, Donna Summer, Genesis, The Hollies, Jimmy Cliff, KISS, LL Cool J, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Stooges. To be eligible for induction an artist or group must have had their debut album released twenty-five or more years before their year of nomination. LL Cool J and the Red Hot Chili Peppers both made the ballot on their first year of eligibility.
As of yesterday December 15, 2009 the final list of RnRHoF inductees was released to the press and general public. And it is probably a safe bet to say that fans of a few of the artists left off the 2010 list are more than frustrated. Two of the well known Rock ‘n’ Roll groups who didn’t make the cut were none other than KISS and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There has been a negative buzz all across the worldwide web since this information hit the air waves and news sites. Most are wondering first and foremost what the 500 voters were even thinking passing over two legendary Rock groups with a massive fan following – especially The KISS Army!
From the general consensus of fans, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is supposed to be an honor bestowed upon “Rock ‘n’ Roll” artists, not Pop Super Groups such as ABBA who unfortunately did make the list of inductees. This to majority of Rock music fans is just a slap in the face and a travesty. It’s not only caused an angry rift amongst their collective group, but also a loss of faith in what is really considered Rock ‘n’ Roll anymore to this honorary foundation. Not to mention there are still so many artists who haven’t even been acknowledged with a nomination.
It is sad that we the fans don’t have a say in the nominations or the voting process because if we did, more Rock artists would already be in the Hall of Fame now instead of them waiting, wondering and feeling passed over for a “Pop” artist to receive the award instead.

What's your take? How do you feel about the nominees that are actually getting into the Hall of Fame? What artists/groups do you feel are being passed over time and time again? Feel free to leave your comments!
