Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr - public memorial service
March 14th 2011 04:49
For everyone located in the Seattle and surrounding area, please mark your calendar as there will be a public memorial service for former Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr. The memorial service will take place at the Seattle Center International Fountain on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 4 p.m. This is the same location where in 1994, the Seattle community also held a public memorial service for our own Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.
While Starr was not born in Seattle, Washington, he did spend a great deal of time there during the late 80s and early 90s grunge era. Starr was one of the four founding members of rock band Alice in Chains and played bass guitar for them from 1987 to 1993.
The Seattle Center is located at 305 Harrison Street, Seattle, WA 98109. The International Fountain is located in the middle of the Seattle Center complex. It's recommended that anyone wishing to attend this memorial service arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes early for it's anticipated there will be an enormous turnout to honor Starr.
I will also be posting my own personal tribute to Michael Christopher Starr in the next few days. I want to make it as accurate and thoughtful as possible, as he was such a special person in so many people's lives, including mine when I was younger.
