BRAG Party

Pinky Tuscadero. After seeing them perform at the Brag party last week, I have been trying to figure out who these guys are ever since and then while browsing through my Myspace friends I discovered I had added them about three months ago and yet still didn’t really know who they were. I don’t know if that’s funny or pathetic. But with the constant inundation of Band requests on one’s page you tend to need to refresh your memory from time to time as to who is who and who does what.
Nonetheless, I know who they are now and I love them. A couple of friends and I attended the Brag party at World Bar in Kings Cross on Friday night and Pinky Tuscadero were one of the bands to play. Obviously I’d never seen them before but I’ll definitely be seeing them again.
I’ve never seen a band that has been able to hold my undivided attention for an entire gig. Sounding somewhat like Australia’s answer to The Plot to Blow up the Eiffel Tower, they are the B-52s meets Kate Bush meets the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I’ve never heard so many influences compacted into one tight little package. They gave an amazing performance and I was gripped from start to finish. This band is a gem.
Singer, Hayley Foster has the vocal range and control of a calibre I’ve rarely seen before and the entire band were sharp, switched on and gave a frantic and savage performance. They know what they’re doing and I hope they keep doing it.
Amazing.
Their Debut EP “Look your Best” is out now through Reverberation.
