Shaky Hands

I've been meaning to write about this band for a couple of weeks but I've been writing other things...and to be honest I've been lazy and I didn't want to write some half baked review of such a great band. So great in fact, that I ended up seeing them three times in one weekend. What a groupie.
Shaky Hands.
They are a four-piece pop/ garage/ indie band from Auckland, NZ that recently toured our shores with Canada's Pony Up! and Oz's Starky. And I have to say that I'd heard good things about them but I really didn't expect them to be able to live up to the hype.
The lived. They exceeded. They made my heart beat faster. During one song, they flawlessly broke it down into David Bowie's "Let's Dance" and I think every one in the crowd quietly moaned. Lovely. Aesthetically pleasing, aurally enticing, they write catchy, crunchy, pop songs that you can dance to.
Blue on Blue was a favourite of mine. But I'm sure there will be plenty more favourites to come. Think The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower meets Bowie meets a slap in the face.
If you missed them on their recent tour, never fear. They are returning to Australia in November, playing with You Am I and the Spazzies.
Wear a pink party dress like Ash's sexy little number and dance, dance, dance. You won't regret it.
Check their myspace page for more details and some sample tracks: www.myspace.com/theshakyhands or the band's own website: theshakyhands.com
